One thing that is clear to Custom’s leadership team – the past is not necessarily an indication of future results, and complacency is just not part of Custom’s culture. So, the thought of just basking in Custom’s 35-years of success and not planning for our next generation’s leaders was not an option. Instead, we decided to complement our current team of experienced industry professionals with a new breed of millennial talent. But this was no small undertaking.

So, we looked to see how our industry partners developed their workforces of the future and found the answer – the Cisco Partner Sales Academy.

The Cisco Partner Sales Academy (PSA) provides world-class comprehensive, hands-on educational and experiential training that develops industry leaders throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Recruiting for this award-winning program vary based on an organization’s needs, and accepted candidates to this program typically have been out of university for less than 5 years and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  When reviewing candidates for the program, Custom also assessed personality, business acumen and presentation skills to ensure they were the right fit. This rigorous recruiting effort ensures that these early in career hires will drive Custom’s success in the near and distant future.

Custom sent a total of 14 new, early in career sales and engineering professionals through the PSA in 2013 with plans of on-boarding several more in 2014.  This is the single largest commitment from any Cisco partner globally.
